Wood paneling and tapestries everywhere. The glitterati of the ship stay here.
We enter sector Aventis after having just blasted our way through the door and servitors. A noble named Tesh greets us, to quickly let us know that they had no intentions of blocking their way.
While walking through the nice ornate area, they noticed a banner for house Orzabal, which apparently had some history with the party from long ago. Priss went and intimidated the doorman, and they went inside. Iara was sitting inside, apparently with an official pardon, signed by the inquisitors they were opposing.
She let them know that if they kill her now, then all of the nobility in the calixis sector will support the argent vanguard over them. Tybalt tried to get her to negotiate down to something the others would accept, but they decided that she was more valuable as a symbolic execution. Drake burned her secret pardon, and priss smothered her with a pillowcase to prepare her for an execution. They then went and tried to gather the neighbors to come see the public execution, first by psychic power, then by going door to door.
On a side note, Drake made a recording of Venris’ rantings over the intercom where he talks about a rift in the inquisition, as apparently this is anathema for all inquisitors to ever say. Tybalt wrote up an execution order to show the people, but it ended up being really plain looking and short, with a bunch of metadata after the actual order.
Hastus attempted to give her the chance to kill herself with her child’s bolt pistol, but she tried to force it around. Tord attempted to react quickly and kill her, but was unable to react in time. Hastus was able to force another weapon around and kill her, but it was not dignified at all. It looked very botched to the audience, and Hastus and Tybalt both attempted to give it some dignity after the fact. The audience began chanting some imperial creed that Tybalt referenced.
After more time listening to Venrus over the loudspeaker, he sounded like he had a sort of Tzeentchian viewpoint, because he kept speaking about the corruption and stagnation in the inquisition.
They got to the elevator to the bridge, and saw a giant 10 meter column. Tybalt made an arcaheotech knowledge check, the bridge is actually a small separate craft, which can travel from port to port, connected on teh outside of the ship. They realized that this was the trap, and cut a hole through the hull to go to the outside of the ship, and there saw troops and fighter craft waiting outside the tube on the outside of the ship, waiting to ambush them.
