The group enters the next pod and finds a group of emaciated citizens, they find an old man they try to talk to, but is not helpful. One of them tries to attack Tord, and is promptly eviscerated. The rest of them inject themselves with Purex and run away, the old man goes through some litany of the local Emperor’s cult. Dariel grabs the old man roughly and forcibly takes away his purex. They also take whatever was left from the dead man.
Tybalt tries to analyze the Purex, but can’t figure out anything about its properties. He tries to fake some by taking empty syringes and putting water in it. They find another cowering citizen, and Tybalt tries to fake being a resident of the hive by injecting himself with the fake Purex, and it seems to work, enough for them to have a conversation. They learn that there was another group of surface dwellers, (or at least, LOOKED like surface dwellers, but then they found that it was a group from another pod). But he couldn’t figure out where they went. The man (Marcus) became suspicious when he began talking about having maps of the pods for newcomers between them, which was apparently a ridiculous concept.
They went back to the old man and Dariel tried to do some kind of mind reading stuff. He is a very loyal imperial citizen, who lived his life in a pod the size of an apartment building. He looked into his memories, and saw a memory of him meeting the other surface dwellers, some slimy fast talker and an aggressive dude with two power swords. They came up with a quick lie about being from another pod, and were taken to meet the Builders, which apparently come by the pods and give them all the supplies that are needed. There is a ceremony every two weeks at a certain door, where they come out and give these supplies (such as purex). Every other detail is very hazy.
They go to the Builders door and find no way to open it, no handles. It has some ornate carvings of outstretched hands on it, has a foyer outside of it, and some cameras watching the door. They begin to cut through the door, and a voice comes over an intercom and begins talking to them. It tries to convince them that they should just leave. It later begins to outright ask what they want, if they actually want to cut through the door, or whether they wouldn’t rather go and fulfill their own dreams. Dariel notices small influences through the warp, that he tries to counteract. Meanwhile the cutting is taking a while. ultimately Dariel smashes the intercom.
Once the door is cut open, the find a pod for some kind of transportation network behind it, seemingly going to different pods.
