Battered and bruised from fighting the mechanical monsters, the acolytes find a place to hide out inside the hive.
The group loots all of the guns from the enemies, and Liesel says that she will take care of them and give them names and tuck them into bed.
3x heavy bolters, 8x chain axes, 12x spider mines, crates of krak grenades
They are able to take their time now that the enemies are done.
We also grab a lot of bolts, given that this is a munitions factory.
We also find a crate of servo skull krak grenades.
We head on to pod Bartriss in order to hide out a while and heal. We find a place on the rail network where there is a porthole on the side of the pod, with a 1-way mirror where they can spy inside. There are a lot of idle printing presses inside, and a large number of children relative to the adults. They seem to be short on food though, and through a picter viewer they see an old woman praying to the Builders door.
Pod Kusto, ’ a full belly means a ….something something’. This pod seems normal and healthy. All the lights are on, everywhere else is on emergency power, etc. They talk to the people there and assume a command stance, and take on a supply of food from them, in exchange for some spare munitions. They are very amenable, as the party was very polite in their dealings.
We head back to pod Bartriss. They open the door, and children nearby say ‘The builders!’ and run off. An old woman comes up to them while they are waiting, and says ‘The annointed hour!’, and there seems to be a poster nearby with that phrase, and a picture of a man in power armor that looks a lot like Tord. She seems to think he is a space marine. She seems to think that the fighting with the surfacers is over, but they quickly disabuse her of that. The children nearby seem to be making noises of certain tones, but there doesn’t seem to be much pattern to it. The old woman’s name is Anestra, and seems to be the leader of this pod. They take the yeast patties from the crate and ration them out to the children.
They stay the night in a converted dormitory full of children’s bunk beds. Through the night, they hear the noises of the tones of the children, and manage to resist some kind of psychic power, though they do get headaches from hearing it. Dariel makes a psyniscience test and can tell that there is a psychic assault on them, related to the noises. Blocking out the noise doesn’t seem to block the power, the sound is just a manifestation of the power.
After a couple of hours, there is a broadcast from Father Xylex, who gives his normal propaganda speech, but then gives his list of fallen pods, and includes pod Bartriss as one that has fallen, after a slaughter of all of the inhabitants by surface dwellers. Anestra comes to their room to ask about it, Tybalt makes up a great lie about using the speech to throw off the surface dwellers, who are listening in, but she still seemed to be confused. Dariel uses more psyniscience to try to detect psykers, and sees etherial strings going into the children in the area, which vibrate right before they make their tone noises.
